The Hotel Protea Parktonian is a modern high rise hotel located in Gauteng, north of Johannesburg, close to the financial district and two kilometres from Nelson Mandela Bridge. There are 294 guestrooms in total, all of which are suites, spread over the hotel's 23 floors. All guestrooms benefit from balconies and separate sitting areas furnished with a sofabed, and are characterised by patterned fabrics with modern furniture. Suites are air conditioned feature direct dial phones, and are equipped with cable television and dial up Internet connections. Minibars are available on request. Orchards Restaurant offers hot and cold delicacies from its extensive buffet, as well as a variety of dishes from an à la carte menu. Meridian's Cocktail Bar offers diners light meals from its snack menu. In room refreshment is also an option with 24 hour room service provided. Guests can swim a few lengths of the indoor pool, and de stress with a healthy work out on the fitness equipment. Conference facilities can accommodate up to 650 people for business functions, weddings, and other events. There is a fully equipped business centre and secretarial services can be arranged, with 24 hour security throughout the hotel and the parking area. An assistance desk can be used to arrange sightseeing tours as well as theatre and restaurant bookings. The hotel's downtown location makes it just one kilometre from the civic centre and three kilometres from the Ellis Park Stadium. The hotel is approximately 35 kilometres or a 40 minute drive from Johannesburg International Airport.
